please try to change the icons at least once for all the content in customizer and then click publish.
if there is an image chooser there then please select images first and then add the content.
the changes will appear.
if these are not the case then please mail us your website link along with your wordpress username and password on [email protected] so we could check the issue. also in the mail if you could send a screenshot of the element which is not changing then it would be better for us to understand the issue so we could fix it quickly.

you will need to make some changes for this.
First you will need to hide the slider using additional css.
go to dashboard >> appearance >> theme editor >> on the right side you will see the files and folders of the theme
>> expand the folder template-parts >> scroll down a little to find the file section-slider.php and click on it to open its code >> and on the end of the line you can paste your widget or shortcode of your slider >> click on save changes

the documentation you are reading is for the pro the theme and you will need to install and activate the theme to use these sections.

The slider is built in and you just need to add featured images to the slider custom post types to add slider images.
One step you must need to do before doing anything is to set a static front page with our template. The information of this as well shown in the documentation.

you need to set the static front page template firstStep 1: Go to Dashboard >> Pages >> Add New, enter page name and select template as Home Page Template from Page Attribute
Step 2: Publish this pageNow set it as front page from Home Page Setting
Step 1: Go to Dashboard >> Settings >> Reading, select home page as a front page
